Analyzing New Pirate101 Pictures and Info - Part 1

In my mind, it is better to carefully look into new information, and provide a closer look (and theorycrafting, of course) than to immediately present new information that you can view yourself, anyway. There's quite a number of new pictures and bits of info, so we'd better take a close look!

Here's an expanded photo of MooShu, with two islands to the left that look like they contain Fiery and Icy terrains.

Here's a photo of Boochbeard asking you a question - "Yer parents were eaten by a Sky Squid? Tragic!" This is assumed to be a question that determines your character class.

Here's an in-game photo posted by J. Todd Coleman that explains quite a lot - first, Pirate101 will be slightly similar to Wizard101 in many ways. for example, the quest mark (! and ?) will remain the same, and the text will be the same, too. You'll also likely have titles, just like these NPCs do. You can even see some similar items carried over!

This photo shows a Skull Island Tomb that could very well be a major instance or questing point on Skull Island.

The jungles of Skull Island hide many mysteries, including ancient ruins, abandoned countless years ago. Many Pirates and Monquistadors have braved these tombs and temples, combing them for gold and jade. Too many of them have not returned. Who raised the great pyramids and dug the vast subterranean labyrinths of Skull Island?

This matching concept gives you an idea of what you'll find inside!

Ominous rumors have come to Puerto Mico from the nearby Isle of Doom. It is said the Monquistadors prying the gold form the ruined cities there have disturbed... something. Several Monkeys, near death and driven mad with fear, have staggered out of the jungles raving of ancient tombs opening, and the scaly horrors that emerged from them. Surely these are nothing more than fever dreams!

In mind mind, this connects the Ancient Tomb to a place called the Isle of Doom, which I imagine to be something like a final instance.

As for other parts of Skull Island, here's another Jonah Town concept.

A wonder of the Skyways, the village of Jonah Town is built on the back of a great Sky Whale. The humble fisherfolk who live in Jonah Town make their living catching sky fish and clams from the Skyways, but most of each day's catch is fed to the Whale - bad things happen if he gets too hungry...

Here's a concept of Captain Ahab. That name is famously known as the captain of the Pequod who search out the whale Moby Dick in an effort to kill him as revenge for a missing leg from the knee down.

It would be interesting if Ahab lost his leg along the storyline in Pirate101, seeing that "bad things happen if he gets too hungry..."

Captain Ahab, mayor and skipper of Jonah Town, is a friendly old bird. He's been the leader in Jonah Town for many years, and the welfare of his people (and the Whale) are his greatest concern. They say old Ahab can understand what the Whale is singing - on some nights, he stands in the prow of Jonah Town and sings back.

This final Skull Island concept features an Undead Pirate Monkey.

Monquistan literature is filled with examples of the heroic quest, where a Monquistador overcomes all odds to right a great wrong or do some impossible deed. Alas, in the real world, some Monquistadors become so obsessed with glory that nothing can turn them from their quest - not even death.
While this was released as a Skull Island concept, the writing suggests that they are Monquistan Buccaneers. We know that these monkeys were cursed by the Monkey's Paw, and have a hatred and jealousy of the living - yep, that's us!

In addition to these newer concepts, there are also some new backgrounds (http://www.home.p101/free_game/downloads/desktop_wallpaper)!

That's it for now! Thanks for reading, and see you in the Spiral!
