Pirate101 Live Release, New Trailer, and More!

It's here - Pirate101 is available for everyone to play now! It's time for every wizard and non-wizard alike to join in on the fun. Start out for free in Skull Island to learn the ropes. Defeat some cannon-happy Troggies, recruit a fox with a gun, recover a stolen Jade Amulet, commandeer your own ship, visit a town on the back of a fish, enter a Vortex of Doom, meet the Frogfather, rob a group of armed monkeys, and drop into the belly of a whale - and that's just the free stuff!

CLICK HERE to sign up for Pirate101! Your adventure begins today! I must say that KingsIsle, though they've heard it ten-thousand-too-many times, did a great job with the game - you really will love it. There are so many different aspects introduced in addition to those we saw in Wizard101, from companions to ship sailing and ship combat!

One thing that I love is the combat system. Consider it - you're not stuck in place, and you're not in a big battle circle. That means endless possibilities, from running to a corner to waiting for the enemies to advance to attacking right away. You might use a power now, or then, and you might need to re-position yourself for the best outcome. Furthermore, what companions do you have for this battle, which powers are you going to take advantage of, and when? And, without the battle circle, you can literally have a battle anywhere!

Even if you've been part of the 1-week head start, there's still so many things to master and revisit. There aren't even complete companion guides out yet, and this game has been in beta a long time! So, while you're continuing your pirating, check out this brand new Pirate101 trailer!

Pretty neat, right? I don't think I've ever seen El Toro pull that move! Now, if you are new, I've got three tips to make playing more enjoyable in the long run!

  • Take advantage of companions! Don't assume that you'll always be the most powerful force in a battle, though your powers do give you an advantage. Consider your approach to companion training - saving points will get your more levels in the long run, but make current battles tough. Then again, you can always purchase more points for gold from taverns.
  • Ask for help! Chances are, someone nearby has a similar quest, or you've got some friends who are willing to lend you a hand. Some battles can take a long time, and you might not want to redo them. Save the time - get assistance! Also keep in mind, however, that you shouldn't be afraid of trying something yourself! It'll make the victory that much better!
  • Finally, enjoy yourself. If you don't have fun, there' no point in playing at all. The tip sounds redundant, but too many people are caught up in parts of the game they don't like. If you prefer one method over another, or one activity over the next, then take part in the things you like!

In other news, a friend of mine from Pirates in the Sky in hosting a launch day party tonight!

Here are the details:

  • Monday, October 15
  • 5:00 PM EST – 9:00 PM EST
  • Avery’s Court, (and all areas directly connecting except Skull Mountain)
  • The main party will be in the shops area, due to overcrowdedness in Avery’s Court.
  • Realm Morgan LaFitte

Don't miss it! There are full details available at http://piratesinthesky.com/. Now before you run too far, I need some input. You see, before long I'll be introducing a new posts series...

To kick off the series, I'd like to visit (though not necessarily answer yet) the most common questions both wizards and pirates have about the Spiral - its future, quests relating to it, worlds, etc. So besides what you're thinking about Pirate101, let me know what kind of questions you have.

Thanks for reading, and see you in the Spiral (among the crowds of pirates)!

  1. You've given a lot of ideas towards the next worlds in P101, what about W101 though?
