Omen Stribog Drop Guide: Decks

Wizard101 Best Gear - Omen Skeleton Key Boss Drops

Omen has been a favorite skeleton key boss since his release. Plus, as of 2016, he was my pick as the top skeleton key boss out there. He drops a number of great items, including his wings and outfit, but his decks are an item that has been a common collectible for many wizards.

Omen Stribog

Omen is located in the River of Frozen Tears in Polaris. He is a skeleton key boss that requires a gold key to battle. To learn more about Omen's cheats and some of this other drops, check out the guide here.

Deck Drops

The most significant drop from Omen is his decks. Check them out below.

Why the Decks?

Omen drops a variety of different items, and some of them are used by max-level wizards. However, none are quite as common, or as good, as Omen's decks. They stood out as topping The Rat's at the time of their release, and remain to be a good option.

Paradox Comparisons

The Paradox decks have gotten to be pretty common drops that have begun to replace the increasingly wide variety of viable decks available. But just in case you're wondering if the farming is worth it, here's a comparison for you.

Why They Matter

Over the course of this month, I'll be doing a sort of "Significant Gear Series" that covers the most important sets and items that have defined where wizards farm, how they build their setups, and more. This will be an opportunity to compare stats and discuss structure. We'll cover everything from Waterworks to Darkmoor to some of the more recent sets. In the future, we may go further back.

Skeleton key boss drops have never needed any help standing out like crafting has - they've always been good. Even the chest rooms offer unique loot or pack items. They're worth your time. However, skeleton key boss drops have often been for cosmetic purposes or for spells or something else. And although Aphrodite's rings stood out in Darkmoor, the Luphilim decks are some of the few instances were a skeleton key boss item was beating other drops from end-world bosses, and Omen's decks definitely did just that.

Omen is a prime example of a well-designed cheating boss. Why? He's not going to take you out in one round or wipe out the team with a cheat hit. But he's tough. The collective battle has some of the most health in the game (you need to do more total damage in this battle than in the Storm Titan battle, I believe), but it's an endurance game and not just a game of "who can kill the other side faster." That means farming Omen can actually be enjoyable, especially with a well-prepared team.

Do you use your Omen deck or other gear?

Thanks for reading and see you in the Spiral
