Empyrea Level 125+ Crafted Gear Guide
Empyrea has been the first world to offer crafters serious alternatives to dropped gear. While Empyrea part 2 took its system even further with the use of a "second chance" reagents that could be won from tough fights to craft the equivalent of top-level dropped gear, part 1 also had a pretty solid offering across the board. Here's a look at the level 125+ crafted gear in Empyrea.

The NPC Loligo is located in Aeriel Shore in Nowhere Village. You can purchase crafting recipes there for universal or school-specific hats, robes, and boots. Hat recipes cost 18,000 gold, robe recipes cost 21,000 gold, and boot recipes cost 15,000 gold.Â

Why They Matter
Over the course of this month, I'll be doing a sort of "Significant Gear Series" that covers the most important sets and items that have defined where wizards farm, how they build their setups, and more. This will be an opportunity to compare stats and discuss structure. We'll cover everything from Waterworks to Darkmoor to some of the more recent sets. In the future, we may go further back.
Like most of the newer gear, it has been primarily the hats and boots which have caught on among players. Unlike some other sets - even including Empyrea part 2 crafted gear - these crafted hats and boots have been extremely popular. Players are beginning to fold to the idea of giving up defenses and balanced stats in favor of offensive ones like critical and damage. When you consider the fact that Waterworks gear lasted 40 levels over anything that wasn't well-balanced and was really only replaced by either a Hades gear set or Darkmoor drops, it's amazing that these items are already replacing Malistaire gear or their exalted alternates.Â
The other impressive part of this gear is that until Empyrea, it had been awhile since major gear pieces had crafted alternatives that were actually viable. The last thing I can remember that was a major crafting project for everyone, and correct me if I'm wrong here, was the Darkmoor crafted decks. It's great to see players who have different preferences for acquiring gear actually be able to compete with everybody else.
Do you use any of the crafted Empyrea gear?
Thanks for reading and see you in the Spiral!
