Wizard101 Dragonspyre Fish School, Location, XP, Rank, and Tank Size Guide
Wizard101's Latest Test Realm reveals new fish, and in Dragonspyre, too! This is one fishing adventure you don't want to miss out on. Here's a compiled guide of all of the Dragonspyre fish schools, locations, XP, ranks, and tank sizes.
Other Fishing Guides:
Fishing, Not Catching
It's called fishing for a reason. In the lava-filled lakes of Dragonspyre, there are some unique fish available, but given that you're unable to step into a single pond in Dragonspyre, there's suddenly some use for that Charm Fish spell, and an added layer of difficulty in catching the latest fish.
Rank 3 Fish and Spells
On top of new rank 2 fish and rank 1 sentinels, there are also four new rank 3 fish, and rank 3 lures and associated spells to go with them. These are available in the Athenium and the Labyrinth to train. While they can be caught with lesser lures, you'll improve your chances by using a rank 3 lure.
A New Twist
The new twist in fishing is sentinels. They have spiny backs, and are therefore easily identifiable in the lava. They also have an associated school, and can be caught like any other fish, but are very fast. The good part about that is that if you want a sentinel in the middle of the Labyrinth lava lake, you need only throw a lure in the side. They'll come from a very long way at a high speed to scare away the fish you're catching and attempt to steal your lure.
More on sentinels later, though. Here's a list of the new fish in Dragonspyre, they're associated schools and where to find them, on top of other information.
Dragonspyre Fish
Note: Recommended fishing locations are included. These are where the fish are confirmed to be caught. However, you generally have a chance to catch a fish in any part of its world with the correct school spawn, and with several, they come from every world, but still have a recommended location. Experience listed in "First Catch, All Catches After" format. These fish are sorted alphabetically.
Which lure do I use? Look at the school first, and then the rank. You should use that rank of that school lure to try and catch that fish.
Ranks that include an "S" indicate that it is a sentinel rank fish.
Ranks that include an "S" indicate that it is a sentinel rank fish.

Sweet! Your original guides to regular fishing helped me out a lot, and I know I'll be using this one for when Dragonspyre Fishing hits live realm :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! :D
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice that the Labyrinth fish looks like David Bowie!
ReplyDeletei'm a completionist myself and have all fish to date thanks to your previous guide, and holidays of course. Now I've got nearly all of the DS fish. As a surprise, I got the Rambo fish in the Crystal Grove while going after another fish.
ReplyDeleteI just found the Spyre eel in the forum if that is any indication
ReplyDeleteIt should, he was in the movie the Labyrinth. It made me laugh! LOL
ReplyDeleteThe Devil Ray is also found in the Forum, I just caught one there
ReplyDeleteAll of the DS fish are pictured and none of them fit in a tall aquarium. Rather, you must place a fish you've caught elsewhere in the tall tank from Dragonspyre. You can find a list of the other fish in the Spiral here: http://www.swordroll.p101/2014/07/wizard101-fish-school-guide.html
ReplyDeleteis there such a thing as tall lava fish?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the valuble info.
