Baba Yaga Gear Drop Guide: Hats & Decks
Baba Yaga has become a big player in the third arc story, but don't forgot that she attacked you with statues first! She drops the best hats available in Polaris, despite appearing fairly early on in the world, as well as some lesser-known decks which are great for the level they're available at. Let's take a look.
Baba Yaga
This rank 15 Myth boss is located in the Statue Garden in Forlorn Tayg. Baba Yaga has 28,500 health, and cheats on the third, sixth, and tenth round to summons statue minions with 9,000-15,000 health each. Baba Yaga is no longer a particularly popular farming spot after her statue summon cheat was changed to be unavoidable (initially, you could dispel to prevent them), but her gear is still floating around. She's part of the main quest chain, so everyone has to fight her once and has the opportunity to use the chest that appears after the battle.
Hat Drops
There are three "tiers" of hats, with tier one being the best. Tier one items are named with the word "Majoris." While Baba Yaga drops hats from multiple tiers, these are the ones worth having.
Deck Drops
Here are the decks that you don't see too often but which are solid choices for wizards who get them. They are named with the word "Patriote."
Why They Matter
For awhile now, particularly a month or two ago, I've been focusing on significant gear throughout the game, including its popularity, impact, and how it fits into setups compared to other gear. The series has been on a bit of a hiatus as I've been working on obtaining missing gear pieces, but I'm nearing completion and there'll be a few more of these popping up, likely this month.
These hats, despite giving up resistance and a few points on other stats compared to Darkmoor gear, fit the increasingly offensive play style, usually offering more damage and being quite a bit easier to get than Darkmoor gear (especially the best gear from Malistaire).
Baba Yaga drops the best available decks at level 105. That said, these are perfectly viable choices for end-game wizards who haven't gotten any alternate decks from Omen Stribog, Rasputin, or the Storm Titan. In fact, these decks offer more school-specific copies of a card than the Paradox decks. Â
