Wizard101: Illustrated Card-Giving Jewel Guide
Last night, I released the Pirate101 Guide to Hybrid Pets, but I'm not finished just yet. There's another reason I've been busy at Swordroll's Blog. I've been hunting down jewels and and hunting down people who hunted down jewels, and put together a guide to highlight some of my favorites - the ones that give cards.
(If you're just here for the guide, skip this portion of the post.)
(If you're just here for the guide, skip this portion of the post.)
Socketing Fun
I began playing with socketing in the Test Realm, knowing that it'd be a tough concept to master. Even once everyone understood the basics, we'd not find all of these jewels hidden in old worlds and dark corners for a long time. And that was exciting. I kept up with a couple of different sources on jewels, namely Central, who started the first overall jewel guide, though it has, unfortunately, died out.
Jewels Giving Cards
Instead of providing a table of the jewels like what was available on Central or all of the jewels, I'm focusing on just a few - the ones that give cards. I'm also adding in some visual aids. These serve a couple of purposes. First and foremost, it means the information either came from me or a source who has given me permission to use the information, and it was not simply typed up from another guide, and secondly, it allows you, the readers, to more easily recognize and find the jewels you're looking for.
The Hunt: Mine and Yours
When the Test Realm update went live, I started immediately farming for a couple of specific jewels, several of which gave cards. Now, it's your turn to hunt, and I've got some drop locations and selections for you here. Please feel free to comment with other drops and images!
NOTE (A): Card jewels are always triangle gems.
NOTE (B): Card jewels are dropped from bosses only, except for mobs who are treated like bosses, such as the Deep Spawns, Ice Goliaths, and so on.
NOTE (C): All card jewels can be crafted in their appropriate school and tier recipes, except for the opals, whose recipes were removed, and special boss jewels like Rocklops.

ReplyDeleteThx 4 the guide very helpful
ReplyDeletei am leaving this blog comment for the guest blog contest :
ReplyDeleteA major thing that broke into wizards lives recently , is jewel socketing : everyone was excited for jewel socketing, it gave every wizard an extra boost of power, from lvl 15 and up to max levels, jewel socketing gave wizards, more damagae, resistance, health and even new spells with a click of a mouse. extra power means better wizards and for sure better stats for mobs, bosses, and pvp. not only that, it also means new goals to reach considering farming bosses for jewels, socketing items, improving gears and doing pvp. it is true that it means harder pvp for some people, especially the defense jewels or critical ones. jewels gave better stats for higher levels, and harder bosses to farm for these jewels. it was a great way to improve your gear and make it unique , every wizard has a specefic use for jewels. some wizards used them for better resistance, others for higher damage, others for a better critical chance, other wizards used them to get better health or better mana or more cards that they didn't get the chance to train. it even meant for some wizards an easier way of earning cards instead of crafting them or farming loremaster for such as the deer knight card from the deer knight onyx. for some warlords, it was a good thing for them to improve their resistance or damage and seek the ultimate power and the disability of being defeated. every single wizard in the spiral wanted more power, better wizard, bigger chance to win in duels and easier questing throughtout the spiral. it also meant another good way to spend crowns, 45 crowns to unlock a jewel socketing place or search for a wrench. 45crowns ins't a lot of crowns and almost everyone could afford that.it is a great way to be unique and create your own style of wizard. every wizard tried to re-do a dungeon he or she already did as they quested throughout the spiral to get more jewels and explore new stuff, as it was a new thing, not everyone knew who and where drops what or when or what use, so everyone seeked the knowlege . it even meant new episodes for lot of famous wizad101 you tubers such as blaze lifehammer or heather the wizard. however jewels meant jewel crafting too, new stuff to craft with a random chance of what to get . Jewels can be purchased from vendors, found as rewards from defeating creatures, opening chests, fishing, gardening, or crafted. Jewel recipes can be purchased from vendors throughout the Spiral including: Katherine Rockhammer and Eudora Tangletree in Wizard City, Wul’yahm in Krokotopia, Felicia Worthington in Marleybone, Toshio in Mooshu, Bathazar Dragonthorn in Dragonspyre, Aegeus in Celestia, Marwa Jadetusk in Zafaria, Shane Macgobhann in Avalon, Yaxche in Azteca and Wozina the Edgecutter in Khrysalis.
Each Jewel recipe will require a Metal, which you can receive as rewards, a Gem, which you can find or purchase from a vendor, and a Treasure Card. To craft Jewels, you will need to use a Jewel Crafting Station.
Crafting Jewels, however, is unlike crafting other items. There is an element of randomness that will affect the final product’s outcome each time. You can craft using the same recipe several times and receive a different result each time! hope this blog comment was good enough for all of you! and thanks !!
Thanks for the guide, helped a lot!

ReplyDeleteThank you for this. I will be sure to check this guide once again if/when I farm for card jewels.
ReplyDeleteAmazing amount of effort put into researching and making the Guide. You deserve a statue within Wizard101 and Pirate101 for all the hard work ... and time ... you've put into your Blog, Guides, Forums, and being such an active member of the Twizard Community on Twitter. You have explored and researched in game and on Test Realm, for so many years, adding to our understanding of the games ... and helped KingsIsle promote its games. Bravo, my friend. Thanks for keeping the magic alive.
ReplyDeleteGot this from Cerberus
ReplyDeleteAsrik Widebelt also drops the Vaporize Peridot Jewel.
ReplyDeleteSaw this on someone earlier tonight and noticed that it wasn't on the guide.
ReplyDeleteBloodseeker also drops the Dark Sprite Onyx.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wealth of information, thanks for posting such great articles!! ~^..^~
ReplyDeleteThis also drops from Kus'Bhid, thr first boss at Lower Zigazag.
ReplyDeleteSkeletal Pirate Onyx dropped by Eirikur last boss of Winterbane (Level 50 tier)
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up, i can say with 95% certainty that bosses and mobs are assigned drop lists opposed to individual jewels. With Avalon bosses for example if a boss drops Snow Drift, they're going to drop the other schools spell jewels as well. Which is why most/all Khrysalis mobs drop essentially every top level jewel.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct. Only bosses get these jewels that give cards, but they come in pre-made tables. The problem is the blurred lines with what comes from where. For example, the Reshuffle jewel, and presumably other jewels from its level tier, come from both rank 10 and 11 bosses. Do they come from rank 9? Maybe rank 12? Where's the cutoff? So instead, I'm listing very specific locations at which players may find specific jewels.
ReplyDeleteI got Power Link Ruby and Insane Bolt Amethyst From Apep In House of scales
ReplyDeleteMass myth Prisim dropped by Mithraya. Elemental trap dropped my Mika Skarka. Storm trap dropped by Lady of the blue Dalia.
