A Look at New Avalon Spells (Levels 70, 72, 75, 80)


There's quite the buzz going around about everything that's new in Avalon, and while I refuse to familiarize myself with the areas and storylines, I'm trying to get an idea of which bosses cheat and what I'll be looking for when it hits the live realm! Meanwhile, I'll be updating you on a few of highlights of the updates, all while rushing through Zafaria. Here's a few words on the new spells.

Let's start with level 70!


You'll already be level 70 when you hit Avalon, so as soon as you make enough progress, you'll be set to get your first new spell - a mass prism. Think of all those times when all of the enemies were your school... or multiple enemies, anyway. Now, for two pips, equal to one turn, you can prism every opponent. Six of the seven schools can obtain this spell, because there is no Balance prism. These spells are trainable, so any school can get them.


Take a few notes here, this is where things get interesting. For three pips, Storm will completely wipe out your blades, so don't stack too many. For 2 pips, Snow Drift will steal a heal over time spell from an opponent (eyes on Regenerate). For three pips, Life can remove a damage over time effect from everyone on their team. Snow Angel and Fire Dragon beware. For four pips, Fire can immediately remove a DoT on you and do all of the damage it would have done over the remaining turns. Beware of Heckhound. For four pips, Mass Infection will infect all enemies with a reduced ability to heal. Throw a few of these the first round and you'll be in good shape. Four 4 pips, Myth can push a damage over time effect to an enemy. Finally, for five pips, Mana Burn will hit for opponent for 80 damage for every pip they have, and remove three of their pips. Perfect before a rank 7, 8, or 9 spell.


Pay attention to the descriptions here, some of these spells have changed. Healing Current gives Storm the opportunity to heal 1100 health to any teammate... or they could do 10,000 damage to themselves. We don't know the percentage split at this time. Ice gets Cooldown, which removes one tick (hit) of a DoT spell from all enemies. Kind of a downgrade from Mass Triage, which costs the same pips, and removes the whole effect. Life hits a homerun with this next spell. Guardian Spirit, for five pips, will revive you with 25% health after you've died. On the second turn of a battle, cast it on yourself, then begin shielding up. On one hand, an opponent can completely kill you, and be out of pips when you're revived, and on the other, you could probably heal more than 25% health for 5 pips. It does, however, mean you can't be one-hit-killed. It can also critical to give 50% health when you are revived. Fire gets Backdraft, which takes all of your pips and adds a 15% trap per pip on the enemy. So if you have four pips, the trap is 60%. Death gets Bad Juju, which is currently four pips, a complete waste. You take 500 damage, and it's Death, which means you lost all blades, and then your opponent gets a 90% weakness. Myth gets Dimension Shift, which trades all hanging effects with their minion. I'm not entirely sure how this works, but I imagine it trades all blades, traps, shields, and other wards that are on you with your minion. Strategy - buff you're minion, then if your opponent uses weaknesses on you, use this spell. For 9 pips, Balance can use Supernova! This spell, I think, hits all enemies with an aura for 535 damage... not very effective, considering you can pull a Ra for 8 and do more damage guaranteed to everyone.


No level 78 spells with the Avalon update, but there are some level 80 spells. They're all new blades that add armor piercing to your next spell. They are trainable, too, so you can grab that Elemental or Spiritual Spear, too.

Spells are still in the process of changing, and things are constantly being updated and discovered. I'm still quietly waiting in Zafaria, looking at a few of the pretty pictures of Avalon.

  2. Great article! Question though about the "mana burn" spell. When it counts pips, does it count a power pip as "one" or as "two" for the bad guys?

  3. @Anonymous - That's a very good question. Honestly, I'm not sure.

    I do know that their spell Supernova was reduced to 2 pips.

  4. I'm so disappointed about bad juju (( it takes 500 base and if we add death boost it goes over 500 moreover it uses our blades as well with 4 and again four pips, ridiculously insane! When it first came I thought finally Death could get one good spell but KI easily changed the spell to 4 pips as soon as they got the first complain letter while they didn't even listen to us in the previous updates about other unfair spells. :| I always waited for a new good spell for death but it seems like death is gonna get the short end of the stick forever! THANKS TO KINGSISLE!

    1. uh how is it bad you death people got it good it gives 90- to other play for 500 damage thats pretty good i for one would be angry if it was used on me so dont complain you guys got it good you guys should have nothing to complain about.

    2. You think death has it rough when MYTH hasnt had an attack all spell since level 42! and it does 310 base! Why cant we just get another attack all? REALLY!

    3. uh, what about myth? I'm myth, i get dimension shift. I havent used a minion since i was level 40 maybe, now a level 70. And NO ATTACK ALL SPELLS SINCE EARTHQUAKE(lvl42)!!!!!! Plus my death guy is beast at lvl 63, I dont even care that there is a crappy spell because all the other ones rock! a deck of buffs, bone dragons, and scarecrows, and I dont die. so yea, maybe a little advancement on myth would be good, but forget about it for death.

    4. OK annonymous 2 ever heard of cleanse charms for one pip? and CJJohnson, myth was mostly built for one on one fights even in 4v4. The earthquake is good, very good. the effect is powerful so the damage is weak. Why should you complain when balance got some weak spells and are for 2v2 3v3 4v4 mostly. play your strengths. AND STOP COMPLAINING!

  5. I honestly like utility more because it means you don't get just one ultra-powerful spell per world. You get multiple! I like how KI has been doing that.

  6. @Anonymous - I feel the same way, and I've already tried to make the argument that it's unfair. They didn't change it with the last update, so I imagine it'll stay that way.

    @Evan Shadow - I agree. The more pips something costs, the less likely I am to use it. Using small hits with damage-increasing enchantments is not only more damaging, but give you a greater chance of getting a critical on a few. You can also hit constantly without worrying about a shield every now and then. I love Utility Spells, and I also hope we get some new lower-rank spells, but only available at high levels.

Here KI changed storm's "Healing current" spell to 100, 400, 1000 heal self but nothing about "Bad juju" KI is being bias (( I wanna shoot right in their head those who complained about bad juju hmph Other players were concerned bad juju being used by non-death wizards but there is an easy way to avoid this problem. KI could 've used the same method as they used for sacrifice spell while back. NO one was able to use sacrifice until the last few updates. DON'T make a TC version of it or amulet and no one can use it except death. Since we don't have TC recipe of bad juju we can't even trade cards even though we enchant it, it wouldn't work. SIMPLE. EASY. They were worried about bad juju being spammed as well but think about it who is gonna spam it while killing themselves. If we wanna spam it we would probably have to shield first but see it takes time for us to do so and it shows opponents that you are about to use bad juju. I DO HATE when all great spells keep being changed just because of PVP while the entire game is not built up on pvp and pvp is just a part of the game. When elemental schools had great spells with the previous updates we spiritual schools also had to deal with that in pvp and we adapted to unfair spells. Please if you send them complain letter include this comment as well quoting it. I really want KI to know what they actually are doing.I cannot do that myself for some reasons. Thanks for reading!

    1. i think this is stupid because we are all gonna get complaints about these spell like storm for instance get to take all blades away i trained secondary myth to find out storm can do it very dissapointing and there are no actual damage spells so its not really that good and the fact that now storm can take blades an POSSIBLY heal is obsurd and not fair to us life people and death stop complaining that is a good spell i for one would be pissed if that was used on me you guys got it good stop being spoiled :P

  18. I don't understand why people say that Death has it good.
    My death wizard has 81% damage boost...
    If I were to slip up and leave some blades on myself when using Bad Juju, imagine what it would do to me... (lol hypothetical, I will NEVER have this in my deck)
    I'm likely to do more damage to myself in that one hit than I would be taking from the enemy (Unless it's storm or unblocked critical)
    A -90% weakness to ONE enemy is not worth that! And as for that pip cost! Pah!
    You all think it's so useful. It would be, to any other school that doesn't have death damage boost in every bit of their gear!
    I'm so tired of these very obvious PVP-geared spells.
    I don't PVP. I want something I can actually use in this game for once.
    An extremely _large_ portion of a death wizard's spells are nothing but garbage that would really only be useful for PVP or very highly situational fights.
    I'm not saying that it's the only school with problems, all of them do.. but come on. I'm so sick of it.

  24. Sunn Shine, Mass triage is built into quest. Fianna on high road will give you quest for a spell and so will Friar Nolan in Caliburn
