50th Post and Zafaria Pt. 4: The Mirror is Breaking - Elephant Graveyard and Mirror Lake

Well it technically isn't proper to start a sentence or title with a number that isn't spelled out, but wouldn't it be odd to write "Fiftieth Post?"

That's right, though, already, it's our 50th post! After 160 days of blogging (You counted, Swordroll?) and all sorts of posts, here we are at our 50th! So, what are we doing to celebrate? Not too much. I checked out other blogs and their 50th posts, and some didn't even recognize the "occasion." I will, however, be giving away TEN (10) KI Free Games codes to one lucky winner. All you need to do to enter is post a comment ON THIS POST before November 15th.

So nothing, major, really. Plenty of blogs make it to 50 posts, but I'm out to prove that this blog will be around for some time. Yes, the Spiral won't get rid of me so easily. You'll be reading all sorts of tips and adventures for worlds to come.
And now, with that, we'll finish up our look at Zafaria!

I was so excited to enter the Elephant Graveyard! It was, by far, one of the coolest looking areas so far. It was fairly small, though. You'll start with a few simple enemies and collecting quests before defeating some pretty tough bosses in four mausoleums surrounding the main tomb. This location was really nice looking, and easy to navigate without unnecessary battles, contrary to the Drum Jungle before it.

The final instance, Queen Elissa's Tomb (or something of the sort), is pictured in one of the preview pictures. You start with a puzzle that isn't really a puzzle... I'm wondering if it's glitched. Then, even if you were doing it alone like me, you had to defeat four Shadow Weavers with about 2500 health each. You then place your recovered treasures from the previous four bosses on small altars, which unlocks a passage that I wasn't expecting. It winds around to another chamber on an even lower level, where you encounter Morganthe herself, who remembers you from Celestia. She calls upon four new Shadow Weavers to attack you. Defeat them and you've completed the short, yet fun, Elephant Graveyard. Morganthe leaves to "destroy the mirror," fulfilling the first part of the prophecy.

So the final instance is located right inside the Baobab Crossroads in a whirlpool. Upon entering, I was somewhat unimpressive with the graphics here, but they were alright. The crazy Zebra who had worn many disguises  claiming to be a rhino, elephant, etc., was back with a minion. He wasn't too difficult. Then we took a path up to the Mountains. Morganthe talks about taking over the Spiral, or rather, simply reclaiming what was hers, and asks you to join her. I might have said yes, but the decision is made for you. She doesn't like being told "no," so she summons four ghostly creatures to defeat you! They all have some interesting cheats. Check out Katherine Light's guide to Mirror Lake on Wizard101 Central. That's right, the final location is "Mirror Lake." You then fight four Ice Shadow Weavers with about 8000 health each, so it's no small feat.

They aren't too difficult. You final encounter with Morganthe leads you to a tower where she reclaims what she's after, which supposedly increases her power a good hundred times what it was, summons four Storm spiders, and escapes. The Storm spiders have a little over 5000 health each. They aren't to be underestimated. They start with about 8 pips, so expect a few Leviathans and Storm Lords the first round. By the time you've recovered from initial hits, they'll probably be ready to do it over again, so shield up and hit hard! After finishing this battles, you'll be rewarded nicely and sent back to the Baobab Crossroad to report what happened... Morganthe drained the lake and reclaimed her Shadow Deck!

Stay tuned for Part 5 including new spell reviews, a look at gear, pets, etc., and some information on other new things!

Are you ready, Wizards.... the mirror is broken!

  4. so, the mirror is broken, since you are at mirror lake and she said she "broke the lock", and she said the horn will call... we're getting through the prophecy. Anyways, happy 50th post! This blog has quickly become one of my favorites!
