Wizard101 Zafaria Hoard Pack Review
Wizard101 has unveiled their newest card pack in the Crown Shop - the Zafaria Hoard Pack! This pack contains three new Warthog mounts, three lion cub pets, new gear, new house guests, and more! Let's take a look at what's inside the pack, including the level 130+ gear, and see if it's worth your crowns or not.
Zafaria Hoard Pack: What's Inside
This pack contains exactly the types of items you might expect - all sorts of things themed for the world of Zafaria. Outside of the primary items, there are also one or two new pets, furniture items from the Zafaria furniture sets, and new spellements for some low-level spells. Here's a look at what you can expect from the pack.
Warthog Mounts & Lion Cub Pets
This pack, following what seems to be a new trend lately, offers three new mounts. These Warthog mounts are all almost identical outside of the color different for their saddles. Each one offers a standard 40% speed increase.Mount and Pet Grade: C

Zafarian Gear & Wands
The pack includes the usual three gear sets. Every school is included in these sets, which is a nice change from some past packs. The gear is fairly standard with the hats and boots being focused on offense (continuing a trend of boots losing resistance) and the robes being defensive. Take a look at the three gear sets for level 130+ here. The wands offer a lot of damage and will likely be a highlight of this pack for many wizards. While they don't have the often-desired piercing, they do give both critical and block on top of the increasingly-relevant pip conversion. Take a look!

Furniture, Spellements, House Guests, and More
On top of the above items, this pack also offers spellements for spells like Dark Sprite and Scorpion. The pack has a number of Zafarian furniture items. Some of these are past Grub Guardian items, some are from the Zafarian Furniture Sets, and others come from vendors. The house guests are brand new.Other Item Grade: B

Pack Analysis
This pack has a lot of filler, but newer items have a chance to show up in a few more spots than usual. The new Mythdactyl and Void Basilisk (in first-generation forms rather than hybrids) and the Skeletal Brigand are all new pets that appear frequently in the pack - they common, in fact. I did notice an unusually high number of 1-day and 7-day mounts, as the rarity of them has been lowered. Usually, 7-day mounts are ultra-rare and 1-day mounts are rare. Here, both 7-day and 1-day mounts are uncommon. Here's the rarity of some of the more notable items in the set:
- Epic: Permanent Mounts
- Ultra-Rare: Robes, Wands
- Rare: Hats, Boots, Lion Pets
- New furniture items range from Common to Rare
The Verdict
Ultimately, there's very little about this pack that I find compelling. The mounts aren't particularly innovative or exciting and all they've done between the three of them is change the color of the saddles. The pets are alright. The gear looks similar to a lot of other options out there and doesn't offer any amazing or very competitive stats. While there's some slightly higher-value filler items in this pack, it's just overstuffed with them.If something in the pack catches your eye, give it a try! If not, there are definitely some more valuable packs to check out.
