Remembering Our Veterans

We all have our problems and occasional altercations. But today, we're reminded just how lucky we are to live in a country where we have so many freedoms. Let's take a moment to appreciate our veterans.

I would like to personally thank all active and past members of the armed forces for serving our country, as well as the families who give up time with their loved ones for a greater cause. 

I don't have much more for you, the reader, but I did not want to miss an opportunity to recognize the service that is a huge part of what makes this country so great.

Where Did Veterans Day Originate?

When the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, World War I officially ended. But it wasn't until seven months later that an armistice, an agreement to end hostilities, was signed. This same year, President Wilson declared November 11 to be a national holiday - Veterans Day. I'll leave you with his words:

To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…
